Steps to Enroll in Health & 2nd Tier Programs
Step 1: Apply for Admission to WCC
To access the Health & 2nd Tier Program Application and meet with an academic advisor, you must be:
- A current student, or
- A newly admitted/readmitted student.
If you are a new student or have not enrolled at WCC in the past two or more years, you must complete a new admission application. Follow the General Admissions Procedures to apply or reapply.
Step 2: Complete a Required Information Session or Meeting
Before you can access the program application, some programs require you to attend an information session or webinar, or meet with a Health Program Advisor.

Step 3: Meet with an Academic Advisor
We recommend that all students regularly meet with their academic advisor for support with:

- Application-strengthening strategies for high demand programs
- Exploring backup options if not offered a seat
To schedule an appointment, contact Academic Advising.
Step 4: Complete Program Admission Requirements
Each program has specific admission requirements listed on its information page. All requirements must be successfully completed before you are eligible to apply. You will be asked to acknowledge that you’ve reviewed these requirements before accessing the program application. To view program-specific requirements, visit the Program Information and Admission Requirements page and select your program.
Step 5: Prepare to Apply
Before starting your program application, gather all required documents. This will help streamline the submission process. Requirements vary by program but may include:
1. Residency Verification (required for all competitive programs)
-
- Provide a valid Driver’s License, State ID, or three (3) approved documents.
- Your residency documents must match the “Basic” address on file at WCC—this determines your residency status.
- Update contact information in your MyWCC account before applying if necessary.
- For residency status or name changes, contact the Student Welcome Center.
- Review WCC’s Residency policies and documentation
2. Transcripts, Diplomas, and Test Scores
Submit the following documents if applicable, and send them to the correct department:
Send to General Admissions Office at admissions@wccnet.edu:
- High School Transcripts, Diplomas, or GED Certificates
- ACT or SAT Test Scores
Send to Health & 2nd Tier Admissions Office at healthadmissions@wccnet.edu:
- TEAS Test Scores
Send to Transcript Evaluation Office at transcripteval@wccnet.edu:
- College/University or Military Transcripts
- Articulated Credit
- AP or CLEP Test Scores
Important Notes:
- Transfer credits must be evaluated and posted to your WCC record before they can count toward application and degree requirements.
- For multiple transfer courses fulfilling one (1) WCC requirement, each course must meet the minimum grade—grades are not averaged.
- Course syllabi may be required for further evaluation if WCC cannot determine if a course is directly comparable.
- Course substitutions must be pre-approved by the appropriate department to be counted toward application and degree requirements—discuss with your advisor.
- WCC is not responsible for delays in your application due to a lack of clarification regarding transfer credits or course substitutions.
- No transcripts are needed if all admission requirements were completed at WCC.
3. Professional Credentials (program-dependent)
You may be required to submit:
- LPN License
- CNA Certification
- CDA Certification
- ARRT, NMTCB, or ARDMS Registration Card
If your program awards credit for professional licensure/certification, submit the Industry Certification/Non-Traditional Credit Form. This credit may count towards graduation requirements. For questions, contact Transcript Evaluation at transcripteval@wccnet.edu.
4. Program-Specific Forms (if required by your program)
Examples include:
- Experience Form (optional)
- Employment Verification Form
- Observation Verification Form
- Middle College Status Verification Form

Application Validity and Reapplication
- Program applications are valid only for the semester in which you apply.

Accepted Status
- Selection is based on the point system ranking and established tie-breakers.

- It is important to verify and update your program of study, especially if you are receiving financial aid. For any questions regarding your financial aid status, contact Financial Aid.
- Exception: Currently enrolled Middle College students will have their program of study updated to Health Science Non-Degree (HLT). High school students cannot be changed to a degree-seeking program. After high school graduation, students must submit a program change request through their MyWCC account to be placed into their admitted program.
- Please note: If your application is closed or you do not continue in the program for any reason, your program of study will be reverted to your previous major.
- You will receive Entrance Requirements and further instruction on how to maintain

- If reapplying or exploring other health care career paths, contact Academic Advising for guidance.
- Questions regarding your alternate status should be directed to the Health & 2nd Tier Admissions Office at healthadmissions@wccnet.edu.
Not Selected for a Status
Due to the competitive nature of our programs and the limited number of available seats, not all applicants will receive an offer of admission. If you are not selected for either Accepted or Alternate status:

Deferment Appeal Process:
Deferments are granted only for specific accommodations or documented extenuating circumstances. These must be unforeseen, serious, and unavoidable circumstances that prevent an admitted student from starting the program in the semester they were accepted.
Examples of situations that typically qualify:
- Medical emergencies
- Military deployment
- Pregnancy-related accommodations
Note: Deferments are not available to students with alternate status or those who have already started the program.
Examples of situations that typically do not qualify:
- Travel or vacation plans
- Work or scheduling conflicts
- Feeling unprepared or not ready to start
- Financial difficulties
- Desire to take a break or gap semester
- Failure to meet program deadlines
- Academic unreadiness or ineligibility
How to Request a Deferment
Students seeking a deferment must email healthadmissions@wccnet.edu with:
- A detailed explanation of their situation
- The reason for the request
- Supporting documentation (e.g., medical records, military orders, etc.)
Pregnancy-Related Accommodations
Pregnant students must also:
- Visit WCC’s Pregnant Student Rights website to officially request accommodations.
- Contact the Dean of Students Office for questions or assistance.
Important Reminder
If a deferment is approved:
- The student must meet all admission and entrance requirements for the semester in which they start the program, even if they completed the requirements in the previous semester.
- Failure to do so will result in ineligibility to start, and the application will be closed.
