A no-cost training for Washtenaw County residents ages 18+ to strengthen the essential
math and workforce readiness skills needed to secure today’s in-demand jobs
The new Workforce Foundation Skills Lab is the only program of its kind in Southeast Michigan focused on helping adults strengthen the math skills needed in over 80% of today’s
most in-demand jobs.
The lab provides a no-cost opportunity for Washtenaw County residents to close essential skill gaps and secure jobs in advancing fields like healthcare,
skilled trades, manufacturing, mobility and more.
Who is the Workforce Foundation Skills Lab for?
Whether you’re a veteran, interested in training to become a healthcare worker, advanced
manufacturing working, IT professional or working in the trades or construction, this lab is for anyone seeking to:
- Apply or train for a new job that requires math skills.
- Pass a math exam or competency test to submit a job, training or trade union application.
- Prepare for a promotion by strengthening math or workforce competencies.
"The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts four times the rate of job growth for math-related
careers over the average job sector ... Meanwhile, more than a third of adults in
the United States have low math skills." – lincs.ed.gov
How does training in the Workforce Foundation Skills Lab work?
The lab offers open-entry training, meaning you can access the lab training virtually or in-person and complete the training at your own pace. The labs also provide live, one-on-one assistance from a lab facilitator for support.
The lab allows you to refresh your math and workforce readiness skills as slow or
as fast as you need to upskill. Prepare to meet the demands of your next job when
it works for your existing schedule.
